Green Chemicals, how do you found a green start- up?

Christian Vollmann is a serial founder and has stakes in more than 85 companies - but his latest start-up has a lot to offer.

With C1 Green Chemicals, he and his co-founders want to produce inexpensive green methanol - a substance that can be used to refuel container and cruise ships and produce all kinds of things in a climate-neutral way. The problem: methanol is a commodity, a commonplace substance, and therefore not easy to brand. But its potential is enormous.

In this interview, Christian, who began his career as an intern with the Samwer-brothers, tells us how his son persuaded him to become a chemical entrepreneur. How he won over business titans such as Wolfgang Reitzle and Jürgen Hambrecht for his start-up. And why his green start-up has made him personally more resilient.
